Queensland State of Origin – The Pioneer of Rugby Competition

In the history of State of Origin, Queensland has actually given us the biggest generation of players. This group of Maroons have been on a winning streak with fantastic seven straight Origin series. In recent State of Origin series, the Queensland team have always been the dominant team and have improved greatly.

All through the history of the Queensland State of Origin, Queensland have been able to call up some real superstars of rugby league and even nowadays, most of their players are iconic names worldwide. The Queensland team is nicknamed with the Maroon's as they are more successful and the major reason is the color of their shirt.

Being the first team to claim 4 consecutive State of Origin series, this year Queensland has a great chance to create history. The Australian competition which comprises of the series of 3 games that is being played between the States of Queensland and the New South Wales and that too with the players chosen for the team that they commence their career in and so the name called State of Origin.

It is not wrong to say that the Queensland Rugby league team have represented the Australian State of Queensland in rugby league football since the 1908 time period. In the State of Origin series, the team plays three times each year against the arch-rivals New South Wales. Coached by Mal Meninga and captained by Cameron Smith, Queensland in the midst of a 8 year long series winning streak.
